FAQs

See some common questions and answers below.

  • What should I do if I have a false alarm?

Call our central station at 334-272-3516 and provide them with your name, address, and verbal passcode.

  • My alarm system is going off. How do I turn if off?

First, start by entering your 4-digit access code. If that does not turn the system off, you will need to power down the system by unplugging the battery and transformer. Please call service to schedule an appointment at 334-271-2222.

  • What should I do if the alarm system is beeping or not working properly?

First, refer to your alarm system owner's manual and see if the problem you are having is described there. If you see a solution to the problem in the manual, please call the Central Monitoring Station before trying to correct it - just in case your corrective measures trip the alarm system by mistake. If you cannot get the problem resolved, please call the service department.

  • Who is responsible for making sure my alarm is working?

You are! It is incumbent upon you to test the alarm system frequently using the procedure established by the alarm installation company and/or the Monitoring Central Station. Be sure to contact the Monitoring Central Station before you conduct any tests and notify your installation company immediately, if you find any problems.

  • What should I do if my system has a low battery?

Most alarm systems require a 12V 8A battery in case of a power outage. The life of these batteries are usually 2-3 years. These can be purchased from our office or any local battery store. It will be located in your panel box, which is most commonly installed in a closet, laundry room, or attic. If you cannot find your panel box or your system requires a different type of battery, please call our office for more assistance.

  • What do I do if my system says Fail to Communicate/FC?

When checking communications, the first step would be to make sure your landline phone has a dial tone. If you have changed phone service providers and your keypad is showing FC, it would be in the customer's best interest to test the system.

  • How do I test my system?

Before you begin to test the system, you will need to call our central station (334-272-3516) to let them know you are getting ready to test the system and provide them with your verbal passcode. Most alarm systems have emergency buttons on the keypad (fire, medical, panic). Any of the buttons will work, but if you do not want the sirens to sound, press and hold the medical button (green cross) until your keypad starts beeping. The central station will let you know when we get the signal. Once the signal is received, you can type in your 4-digit code to turn it off.

  • How do I change my alarm code?

All alarm systems function differently. Please refer to your user manual, if you have one available.

NX8: *5   4 digit master code    2 digit user number (master code is 01)   New 4 digit code   #

DSC: *5   4 digit master code   2 digit user number (master code user is 40)   New 4 digit code   #

  • Do I need a landline phone for my system to communicate?

No! We recommend you NOT use a landline phone. We can provide and install a cellular communications module to communicate the signal from your alarm panel to our local central station.

  • How do I bypass a zone that is malfunctioning?

This is also going to depend on the type of alarm system you have in your home. Please refer to your user manual, if you have one available. If you do not have a manual, our office can provide you with your alarm type so it can easily be looked up online to find videos and tutorials. If this is not helpful, you can contact our service department to help you bypass a zone.

NX8: Bypass      2-digit zone number        Bypass       Bypass

ADEMCO: Code        6        2-digit zone number

    DSC: *1      4-digit code        2-digit zone number         #
